Dr. Michael Evans
A Lifelong Passion for Education.
I began working in the field of education over 20 years ago as an elementary school teacher in Tulsa, Oklahoma. As a novice educator, I quickly learned the value of a strong community - in particular, how central relationships are to student success.
My teaching experience sparked an interest in the intersection of community engagement and education, and I went on to earn graduate degrees from the University of Notre Dame (M.Ed.), Harvard University (M.Div.), and Boston College (Ph.D).
I’ve since dedicated my professional career to researching, developing and promoting innovations in family, school, and community engagement. To date, I’ve published over 25 book chapters, articles and op-eds, and presented my work across the United States, Europe, and Asia.
As a faculty member at Miami University, I have worked with over a thousand students, including teachers, social workers, curriculum directors, principals, and superintendents who aspire to work more effectively with families and communities.
Now I hope to share my knowledge with the broader educational community by providing access to lessons on topics that can take your engagement work to the next level!
